Questions, answered
Starting therapy or coaching can feel daunting. Here are answers to the things people most often want to know — and there’s no such thing as a silly question.
I primarily work with high-functioning young adults and professionals who feel anxious, overwhelmed, emotionally exhausted or stuck in patterns that no longer serve them. Many appear capable and “together” on the outside, but internally struggle with overthinking, burnout, perfectionism, low self-worth, people-pleasing or feeling disconnected from themselves. I also frequently support clients working through childhood experiences, difficult family dynamics, ADHD-related overwhelm and long-term emotional exhaustion.
My approach integrates both, because lasting change often needs understanding and action. Therapy helps us explore the deeper emotional patterns, experiences and beliefs contributing to anxiety, overwhelm or feeling stuck. Coaching helps us gently move towards meaningful change — healthier habits, clearer boundaries, greater self-trust and a life that feels more aligned with who you truly are. Some sessions feel more reflective; others focus more on practical shifts. It’s always tailored to you.
It’s a relaxed, no-pressure conversation to help us both get a sense of whether working together feels like the right fit. I’ll ask some gentle questions about what’s been going on for you and what you’d like support with, and there’s plenty of space for your questions too. Most people leave with much more clarity about their next steps — and there’s absolutely no obligation to proceed afterwards.
The first session is about beginning to properly understand you — not just the symptoms, but the wider patterns, pressures and experiences shaping how you feel. Together we’ll explore what’s currently difficult, what you’d like to change, and what support would feel most helpful. There’s no expectation to have everything figured out. Many people arrive feeling overwhelmed or unsure where to start, and that is completely okay.
Both. Online sessions take place via Zoom, so you can access support from the comfort of your own space, wherever you are in the world. Many clients find online work just as effective, reflective and emotionally connected as in person. I also offer in-person sessions in St Ives, Cambridgeshire.
You don’t need to be in crisis to benefit from therapy or coaching. You may find this work helpful if you struggle to switch off or relax, constantly overthink, feel emotionally responsible for others, are hard on yourself, feel exhausted from always coping, or want healthier relationships and boundaries. Often, people come to me not because everything has fallen apart, but because they no longer want to live in constant survival mode.
Not at all. Some people choose longer-term work because they want deeper, ongoing support; others begin with shorter-term support, standalone sessions or a course. During the initial consultation, we can explore what feels most appropriate for you based on your needs and where you are emotionally. There’s no pressure to commit to long-term work before you feel ready.
Absolutely. Many of the people I work with have never had therapy or coaching before — you don’t need any prior experience. Starting can feel daunting, especially if you’re used to coping with everything alone, but we move at a pace that feels manageable and supportive for you. You’re not expected to know exactly what to say before you begin.
This is incredibly common, especially for people used to being “the strong one.” Part of my role is helping you feel safe enough to gradually open up, without pressure or judgement. We don’t need to force anything before you’re ready. Many clients who worried they’d struggle to open up find themselves feeling far more at ease than they expected.
No — I have an all-inclusive practice and work with men, women, trans and non-binary clients. My approach is always tailored to the individual rather than based on labels or assumptions. I aim to create a warm, supportive and non-judgemental space where people feel safe to explore what’s happening beneath the surface.
Yes. Confidentiality is a very important part of the work, and I am a registered practitioner with the ICO. Everything discussed in sessions is kept confidential within professional and ethical guidelines, creating a safe space where you can speak openly. There are some rare legal and ethical exceptions, such as serious risk of harm, which would always be discussed with you where possible.
If you’re working with me within a coaching package or ongoing agreement, I ask for at least 24 hours’ notice to reschedule, and wherever possible we’ll rearrange within the same week. For single standalone sessions, a minimum of 48 hours’ notice is required; sessions cancelled with less notice are charged in full. If I ever need to rearrange, I’ll always give as much notice as possible.
How do I get started?
The easiest way is to book a free consultation using my calendar, or send me a message and I’ll be in touch. I aim to reply to all enquiries within 48 hours — there’s no pressure, just a friendly first conversation.
